What to prepare before you start
- A configured SimpleDPP workspace with an active product language, available passport capacity and permission to create and publish.
- A product name, a unique product code and a short description supported by your source information. Choose one representative product to start with.
- A decision on which information may be public. Keep confidential information out of the public description.
The images show the real SimpleDPP interface in a local test environment with fictional products and companies. Links and QR codes in the images belong to that test environment.
Enter product data and create the draft
Open First steps in your workspace. Enter the product name and product code, add a description if needed and select the product language. The example uses a fictional stool with the code DEMO-F01-001.
You can start with basic product information without an additional product template. A template adds structured fields; its required values must be completed before publication. Choose a template for the data your product actually needs.
Select Save and review draft to create the product-page draft. It counts towards your plan's passport capacity. The entered data is not public yet.
Review the draft and the public information
Select Review product page. The passport view shows the product context and publication checks. Make sure you are working on the right product and that its information is complete and traceable.
Review assigned template values in Field Data and link the documents you need in Evidence. The software may report missing required values or other technical blockers. Passing these checks does not replace an expert review of your content.
The example has no additional template fields or evidence documents linked yet. Those notices remain visible. Do not invent values simply to improve a status.
- Are the product identity, language and publication details correct?
- Are the required template values complete and the relevant documents linked?
- Have blockers been resolved and the remaining warnings reviewed?
Publish the page and download its QR code
Select Publish product page. Review the details and warnings in the confirmation dialog, then confirm publication. SimpleDPP creates a snapshot of the current data and activates public access.
The Access tab contains the public link and QR code. Select Open public view to inspect the published page. You can also copy the link and share it separately.
The QR export offers PNG, SVG and PDF. PNG suits digital sharing; SVG and PDF are available as label files. Before printing, check the actual dimensions, contrast and scanability on the intended material.
Test the public page and keep it current
Open the link in a private browser window without signing in. Check the product name, code, description, language and any further public information. Also test the QR code with a smartphone and, for printed labels, on the actual printout.
The basic page shown here contains the product description entered earlier. Additional public field data and documents appear once they have been configured and published accordingly.
Assign responsibility for future updates. After changing data, check the published version again. The Access tab provides Create revised snapshot for that purpose. Include links and labels you have already distributed in this review.
Check before sharing
- The public link opens without signing in and belongs to the right product.
- The visible information is approved and contains no confidential details.
- The QR code and links work in their intended setting.
- Someone is responsible for the content and knows when to review it next.
Questions about getting started
Do I need a template for the first product page?
The workflow shown here can start with basic product information. Templates add structured fields and their requirements. Decide which structure your product needs before approving its content.
Is the passport public as soon as I save it?
No. Save and review draft initially creates a draft. Public access is activated through a separate publication action with confirmation.
Does this automatically create a regulatory DPP?
The described workflow creates an informational product page. A QR code and successful technical publication alone do not meet every product-specific requirement for a regulatory DPP. Data, evidence, access and any further processes must match the applicable requirements.
What can I prepare in a spreadsheet?
Collect product identifiers, available information, sources, owners and missing evidence. The data-inventory CSV on our example page helps with this preparation. It is a planning worksheet; this guide shows manual entry in the interface.
